Ten Days Games and Makoto Tanaka

Today I'll tell you about Japanese board game shop "Ten Days Games" and its shop manager Makoto Tanaka.

Ten Days Games is a board game shop in Mitaka, Tokyo and I'm a regular customer of it.  It not only sells board games but also publishes many board games of the Japanese version.  "Wie ich die welt sehe...", "Telestrations", "K2", "Terra Mystica", "Kingdomino", "A Feast of Odin", "Gaia Project" and more.
(I appreciate these Japanese versions basically.  However, sometimes it publishes games with excessively showy artwork.  "Inferno" and "Seimi in the Super Crazy World(Remake of 'Der Herr der Ringe: Die Zeen Türme - das Kartenspiel')" fall under it.  There are pros and cons to it and I don't like it very much.)

In addition, Ten Days Games holds competitions of "Tokyo German Game Award(東京ドイツゲーム賞)" in collaboration with New Games Order, LLC and is working to discover Japanese board game designers.  "Stone Garden(枯山水)" first appeared in this competition.

Makoto Tanaka, the shop manager of Ten Days Games was nothing but a board game fan at the beginning.  He presided over the board games meeting "Wednesday's Association" every Wednesday night. (I joined it very often.)  He brought board games that he personally imported there, consigned popular games to board game shop Yellow Submarine and sold them.  This is the beginning of the Ten Days Games.

Makoto Tanaka launched Ten Days Games as an online shop in April 2009.

In 2009, Ten Days Games published the Japanese version of the overseas table game for the first time.  It was "...und tschüss!" of Martin Wallace.

In August 2010 Ten Days Games became a real store in Mitaka.

Even after that Ten Days Games kept working diligently and became a must-have store in the Japanese board game world now.

As well as Jun Kusaba, Makoto Tanaka is also one of the people who excites the Japanese board game world with infinite passion.  I respect him and I want to let you know him and his efforts.
